Speed Of Sight have had four cars specially designed and built – two race cars and two off-road buggies. They allow people of all ages with disabilities to enjoy the excitement and thrill of motorsports.
Mike Newmn, co-founder of the charity, is a world record holder as the fastest blind man on land and sea.
The cars, which are all named after Mike's guide dogs, are specially designed with dual controls and twin steering wheels and the buggies also have hand controls.
The cars are open-topped.
A qualified driving instructor sits alongside the participant, both wear safety crash helmets with an integral communication system.
Driving experiences take place at race circuits and off road tracks.
The experience increases the self-confidence and self-esteem of participants many who believed they would never be able to drive and raises expectations of what other ambitions may be possible.
